The Beauty of Boxing Day

The sheer delight of a lazy boxing day is without compare. Amy and I are curled up in clothes we'd never leave the house in, making bread, sewing, fiddling with little online projects and glorying in the feeling of having no plans or obligations all day.

Personally speaking, I'm going to spend my time continuing to get to know the new media player I downloaded this week, the multi-talented and fantastic MediaMonkey. It feels faster and 'lighter' than winamp, all my library searches and playlistings have been much more pain free than before and it's even doing a nice little trick where the end of one track is crossfading into the beginning of the next. The Llama's ass is well and truly whipped.

It'll scrobble to lastfm just fine with only a little fiddling too, which has lead to my discovering the fantastic new user interface they have over there and the fact thatthe last 7 days chart now updates a lot faster - colour me most pleased.

Also on the music front I have to give a shout for the Sansa Fuse, the best little mp3 player I have ever owned. The sound from this thing is immense and not having to run it in mtp mode (it actually allows you to switch between 'appear as a memory stick' mode and 'appear as a playsforsure device' - this is an absolute revelation to me!) has freed me from the awful software manifacturers like to inflict on mp3 player users. Combining it with Amazon MP3 and emusic (who are made of independant, fucking win and supplying me with many Jill Sobule albums) for DRM free downloads without going anywhere near Itunes and I'm in heaven :) .

I've got a nice comment based mystery too that I'll make a seperate post about and the sheer nostalgic delight of discovering that some kind soul has uploaded the entirety of The Girl from Tomorrow to youtube ... there goes my afternoon :) .
