Suddenly, Hats. Thousands of Them.

For various reasons including my lack of university attendance at normal student age, I have never been to a graduation before. So when the opportunity presented itself to watch the ever delightful Mish receive her engineering degree, I jumped at the chance. The whole thing was rather fun – I enjoyed meeting her suitable daft parents who were made of win, loved all the pomp and circumstance and discovered something I’d never been sure of in the past.
People really do throw their hats in the air at Graduations! I had to take the above photo; it was just so gleefully silly. I’m not sure what I’d thought before; perhaps I’d written it off as something that only happened in movies? Whatever my past convictions, I now stand corrected ... inside a shower of silly hats.
Mish also came to visit us this weekend, and despite the bloody ridiculous heat we managed to have various fun and games together without anyone being randomly killed or maimed – you know a friendship that survives four days proximity in this heat is one that’s fit to last
. Movies were watched, food was cooked, games were played (including the delights of three player Mario Kart – yay GameCube!) and adventures were had – it is fair to say that the phrase ‘do you like whiskey?’ coming from a friend has never heralded anything but good for me in the past; a trend that continued this weekend.
Things were slightly Hunter S once the snakes appeared though, in the best possible way.
In other news, mere days separate us from Amy’s acquisition of hearing aids and consequent freedom from the infernal device / improvised weasel leash – an event anticipated with much excitement in this household. We also have a date for the second op on her lungs which, if it goes as well as the first should send things forward in leaps and bounds – it’s nice to have some good things to look forward to.
Also in that category is this weekend’s forthcoming Belfast adventure – The ever-suave Mickey Nixon and I are descending upon Belfast in a fancy heavier-than-air transportation vessel to meet with the Shawn and generally enjoy ourselves. It promises to be rather win.
Goodnight, internets. Speak soon!

Thats a rather pretty dress you have on there! ^_^
Mario Kart is made of win. yesimpickingthisupfromu *_*
Thank you, ganked it from Long Tall Sally in the summer sale
. Has been perfect for this slew of heat we've been in.
And the moment you'll know you are trully infected is when, instead of declairing something fail, you describe it as full of geese
