Glass Vase, Cello Case

Amy and I have been watching more movies recently; or more accurately, I have been watching more movies with Amy – she usually sees a lot more film and television than I do. A few weeks ago we got around to rewatching ‘but I’m a cheerleader’, a cute little satire on the Ex Gay movement, and I noticed an absolutely gorgeous guitar/voice/cello piece playing over a key scene. A quick bit of Google fu told me this was ‘Glass Vase Cello Case’ by Tattle Tale, a Riot Grrl act from the 90s who had long since vanished – making their music very hard to find.

Fortunately, a little more Google fu revealed that Madigan Shrive, the cellist from Tattle Tale, had been making music herself ever since under the name ‘Bonfire Madigan’ and that she had a retrospective cd out called ‘I bleed: A Decade of song’ featuring a few Tattle Tale Tracks. One quick order and a few weeks wait then it hit my doormat, and proved to be filled with fifteen different kinds of awesome.

She also threw in a couple of stickers promoting the Icarus Project, who appear to be a rather win collective of mad pride people, artists, service users and people supporting each other. I’ve only had a small look through the site so far, but everything I’ve seen has been interesting and worth looking at.

I have a few pictures from the Belfast adventure last weekend and some stories to tell, they’ll be up on the site once I’ve had time to go through them all and Flickr them.

Oh wow, thanks for the heads up :) . I've just gone a searching and found quite a few CDs she's on - I'll need to add them to the top of the list.

Please make envious faces by proxy at amanda for me for having met her like that :P .
